This cover has been nagging me to listen and I finally said YES.
I loved it. I meal LOVED it, I adored Ford I think he is sweet and just because someone might look a certain way doesn’t mean they want to be the center of attention. And that goes for good looks or looks that you think might not be attractive. That is something I loved about this book.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I think we forget that. What might not be beautiful to you is to someone else. And I love that Ford get that.
Gina is kinda awesome, yeah she knows a lot of people don’t like the way she looks but who cares. She is herself does she have insecurities but that doesn’t stop her from being herself.
Ford’s family is Aces! I loved how they saw what Ford sees. That my friends makes for a create story.

Every girl written by this author is insecure and waiting for a man to save her. Cute love story- terrible FMC
So unfortunately this is a 3.5 for me.
I wanted to love this book so much. Anxiety rep that is actually pretty accurate, self image issues that are also surprisingly accurate is a recipe for love with me. But this just missed the mark.
Ford is your standard straight laced hot cop that everyone thinks is perfect. In reality, he is kinda different than everyone assumes he is. Gina is not conventionally attractive and that has caused some issues for her.
Overall, the spice was good! The plot? Nonexistent. This was saved by the representation and the family dynamic. Oh and the cannoli stuffing

"I am going to make you c*m so hard that you remember my name even when you're 100 and barely know your own." WHAT. THE. FUCK. (dying of laughter.)
A love story for an ugly girl.
Wow the middle of this book dropped HARD. But I did love the comupense Ford got for being a douche. I just wish that he actually deserved getting her back and not just an explanation of a shitty situation. Sure girl, he did something nice for your brothers but that feels like the bar is so low it's 6 feet under.

In this story our FMC is a wedding planner, who isn't what conventional standards call beautiful. She has come to accept that she is "undateable" but still struggles with cruelness. When she is working a wedding and a kiss cam is involved, she ends up on the cam with a very attractive guy. She tries to make it go away, but finally he gives in and kisses her - and it's amazing. The problem is, she has no confidence to think its real, plus he is a cop and her brothers have unfortunately gotten themselves involved with the mob. Our MMC is a detective, attracted to our FMC, but knows nothing can happen because of her family connections. Except after an awkward encounter and bullying from his fellow officers, he gets called to her house when she finds the body of her grandfather in the attic. His captain lets him use this time to try and get close to learn about a drug deal going down, but what it really does is draw him closer to her. Will the forced proximity be enough to keep this flame going, or will it crash and burn when she finds out his original reasons for being there?
I loved every second of this book . Gina has never been beautiful , she was known as butaface . Every thing looks good but her face . Ford is all about rules . Ginas family is associated with organized crime and Ford is the detective assigned to the case . All comes together with a kiss cam. I loved every second of this book . I felt bad for Gina but loved her all the same . I liked Ford and was hoping he would do the right thing . I laughed and cried durning this book. You will love every second of it .
This book is so bad and I really wish I didn’t have OCD that makes me have to finish series because Muffintop is even worse. It took me almost a month to just LISTEN to the audiobook of this and it was only an 8 hr read. Usually that’s a day or two tops, but my god was this hard to get through. I’ve never read a story that uses more useless metaphors than this one. Literally every chapter had at least one useless example, along the lines of, “He looked at me like I had just told him popsicles were made of banana bread instead of frozen juice,” or something equally stupid and unnecessary. Not everting needs a metaphor! Maybe I would have liked it better if I read it and didn’t listen to the audible because the woman narrator’s voice for Ford was really gross. Idk, this review is already longer than this book deserves. Not good, didn’t like any of the lead characters, stupid premise, repetitive to the point of annoyance that she is “ugly,” and no memorable plot.
Butterface is a fun, fast paced and mostly feelgood read that completely stole my heart. Avery Flynn's writing drew me straight into the story. She weaves a tale well, introducing us to Gina ( heroine extraordinaire), Ford (our hero), Gina's brothers, Fords' family and his co-workers.
Gina is one of those characters, the women we all know and one who is completely relatable. From her love of organization to her desire to just be herself, I was rooting for her to have her moment. She doesn't suffer from a lack of self-esteem and this alone endeared her to me. But she is relatable because like most of us, she's taken a hit or two that gave her pause, hurt her feelings, and created some doubt. But at her core, she knows she's beyond worthy. And a moment on a kiss-cam would be one that would test her spirit and change her life.
Gina and Ford have amazing chemistry, they just jelled and although Ford motivations make him suspect, I could tell I would want to see him bring Gina the happiness that she deserves. Everything about her is genuine and real, and Ford is her perfect match. He makes some mistakes, Gina is made to give Ford a few too many chances, but in the end he is redeemable. This is the perfect end of summer beach read and one I highly recommend. 4.5 Stars
