"To Mr. Lorry, he commended them all and explained his worldly affairs. That done, with many added sentences of grateful friendship and warm attachment, all was done. He never thought of Carton. His mind was so full of the others, that he never once thought of him."
my heart has bled dry from the daggers that were thrown in at the end of this book.
I have had a little more than a day to think about this book and I loved it. I loved it way more than I thought I would. There was an actual story and I couldn't believe it haha. I never gave much appreciation to this book because my dad forced me to listen to the last chapter when I was younger because he thought it was so amazing. I didn't think anything of it because I had no idea what was happening. However, as I was finishing up this book on the drive home from Utah, Lizzie and my father were like "let's listen to the last chapter together" and I slowly brought the AirPods out of my ears connected the book to the car. Seeing my dad crying so much after this book ended was so gut-punching, it almost made me cry haha.
This book was full of sacrifice and love and I loved it so much. Seeing the silent love of Sydney for Lucie just made my heartache. Watching someone you love so much fall in love with someone else is just heart-breaking.
This book is the inspiration for one of my favorite series EVER. The Infernal Devices ([b:Clockwork Angel|7171637|Clockwork Angel (The Infernal Devices, #1)|Cassandra Clare|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1693490271l/7171637._SY75_.jpg|6674837]) and it was so fun seeing all the similarities between the two novels. WILL AND JEM. SYDNEY AND CHARLES. LUCIE AND TESSA! AHHHH SOOOO GOOD!
I love this book and will for a long time, if you can get past the dreaded first couple of chapters, I would suggest that you pick this one up and read it!
Have a wonderful day! : )

Spoiler
Anyways, Sydney Carton really is my man. He is the quiet, smart guy in the corner that no one ever appreciates. In the quote above, Charles is in jail and doesn't even think about Sydney. Last time I gave this 5 stars but I had a harder time getting through it this time! I still think it's a good classic, just not 5 stars anymore!
