"It was the best of times. It was the worst of times." Reading this book was the worst of times. Honestly kinda boring - I read for school and love triangles, doctors, and the french revolution just don't mix

I was surprised how short this was in comparison to most of Dickens’ other books. As usual, I took some time to get into it, really only feeling it took off once we get to Charles Darnay’s trip to Paris and imprisonment. The descriptions of Paris in the Terror are very vividly drawn. The making of the book is Sidney Carton, a very complex and interesting character.

This was academic reading for me but one I found infinitely enjoyable. Perhaps it was because at the time of reading this, I was already an avid reader and had developed a love and appreciation of literature. My favorite character was Mr. Carton and I hated the bits about the beheadings on the guillotine.
