This is, hands down, on of my favorite books. There is just enough political intrigue and Diane teaching everyone a lesson. I just love it. This whole series is just so good and I enjoy it so much, it's been a joy to reread.

Love the fairly intricate plottings going on in the book and the introduction of Zek. Daine is really growing up and has a fascinating new power added to her repertoire (at least for a bit). I mean, who wouldn't want a T-rex all their very own? ;)

There are dinosaurs in this book. And it makes me giggle. I adore this book.
2021 reread: So good. Just, you know, a girl trying to mind her own business, caught up in global despotism and the Graveyard Hag's plans, and hyenas, and a pygmy marmoset that saves the day and dinosaurs, and saving the world.

3.5 stars. I really enjoyed this book. I liked how the bad guy had multiple sides to him and Diane's growth (i.e. Not automatically hating the Stormwings because of their nature). I liked Kaddar's character and Diane's growing friendship with him. The ending was great!
The only complaint I have really is this possible romance growing between. I was hoping these books were going to remain romance-free and really this romance just seems ridiculous for so many reasons.
