Reread 03/20 - my second favorite of this quartet, because of how intriguing Carthak is as a society in contrast with Tortall. The Graveyard Hag and the evolution of Stormwings (esp Rikash) were highlights.
My favourite book of the Immortals Quartet.
Just SO good.

I really wish that The Exile's Gift was already published (so I could've gotten more of a backstory on Numair and Ozorne). So maybe don't read Tempests and Slaughter until you finish this series.
Trigger Warnings: slavery, confinement, blood, death, violence, grief, animal death, misogyny, sexism, and war

Least favorite book from the series so far. The writing felt a little scrambled then her normal linear writing style.
Loving this series! Amazing characters, terrific plotting... can't wait to see how it all wraps up.

first book of 2024!! still having a great time rereading this series although I can’t look past the fact that the MC is literally fifteen and repeatedly being sexualized by everyone around her and everyone just acts like it’s all normal and fine
