Pros:
I love when books put in important concepts and explore them in a way that can be separated from real life but related to it. In this book we get a glimpse of slavery and what goes into ending it. We also see how hard peace can be between different countries with different social structures and beliefs.
I really loved the little scenes between Diane and Alanna. It’s the little bits like that which connect the stories and build the world and make it so much more rich.
Cons:
I’m sure it comes in a later series in this world but I do wish at some point someone had discussed in more detail how the emperor became the man he is now. I can’t imagine he started off fully evil.

This was maybe my least favorite of the immortals series. But still cute though.
