Favorite one, best ending, steamiest story, most utterly swoonworthy romance. I will miss the Bedwyn clan intensely- I have love every minute of this series and this book was the most spectacular ending.

i’m sure it’s very enjoyable for others but i’m just not really into historical romance

This was such a sweet slow burn HR with grumpy/sunshine themes. FMC had good backstory, although I felt the resolution of the backstory was rather rushed. I appreciated that she stood up for what she deserved for a partner and turned down MMC when she needed to.
MMC was ridiculously self-centered throughout most of the book, but grew quite a bit. I would have liked even more growth for his character prior to the end of the book, especially when it came to family relationships. They ended up being a good fit as a couple.

Spice on 1-5 scale: 2.5/5
Trigger Warnings: manipulative inlaws

This has a very definite Pride and Prejudice flavor to it. They both have an immediate attraction to each other, but temperment wise they both seem like a bad fit for each other. He's too proud, and she's not refined enough, but something keeps drawing them back to each other, and when he
Spoilerfinally invited her to Lindsey Hall for Easter, I literally squeed out loud because he WANTED TO SHOW HER THAT HE REALLY DOES HAVE A HEART! AND THEN THE DOVECOTE! AND HER KEEPING HIS QUIZZING GLASS!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

Seriously, the dichotomy between the Duke and the Man, between Bewcastle and Wulfric, and her loving the man and not being overwhelmed by the duke, and him needing her to love the man because he had been the duke for so long he had forgotten how to be the man was so beautiful and understated and I loved it. LOVE LOVE LOVE IT.

Normally I'm not a fan of the bickering as flirting, but I don't think that was what was going on. He was fighting against all the rules of being a duke that had been pounded into him. And she wasn't going to be cowed by the duke the way he was used to everyone bowing and scraping to him. And he was strong enough not to be threatened by her outgoing personality and she brought out the best in him and he loved her for who she was, and it's totally Pride and Prejudice and I love it.

DEAD. Circle back to me for a better review once I've re-read. IF I LOVED IT LESS I MIGHT BE ABLE TO TALK ABOUT IT MOOOOOORE.

I am SHRIEKING WITH JOY OVER THIS BOOK. omg.

I don’t usually read out of order in a series, but friends all around loved this one so I started it. Very good Pride and Prejudice-esque book. I didn’t warm up to the H however but solid four stars. Picked up the rest of the series from the library.

Update 10/10/20. Yes I’ve read this a second time in a month. I’ve finally learned my lesson on reading series out of order, when a book is sworn to be a standalone within the series ( Which technically it is). If read out of order, you totally miss the depth of Wulfric from meeting him in all the previous five books. Also, you miss out the full experience on his brothers and sisters happiness In his book. Never again reading out of order.
