This was a hip book but not compelling. Lots of disparate people whose lives somehow intersect. Why did the plot veer through Africa?
Too many characters so hard to know who is being mentioned. It jumps around a lot but hard to follow as I don’t know who the characters are, and as soon as you’re into a chapter it ends and you need to do it all over again.
Egan’s writing is both fascinating and frustrating. I love the switching narratives and timelines. Some stories leave me wanting more. But honestly, not every story needs the same amount of time. Some stories dragged. Overall a great read. I look forward to reading more from her.
An intriguing read. The author is an incredible storyteller and builds characters in a super unique way. The only downfall for me was the difficultly on keeping all of the names straight throughout the chapters. Overall enjoyed it though.
Started it bc it won a Pulitzer. Stopped halfway bc it was gimmicky and therefore annoying.
Interesting structure. I liked the last 100 pages more than anything else. Definitely a must read if you're interested in the various methods of storytelling and POV.
