Can't decide if I liked this or not. Strong ending helped but I wasn't enthralled in the story and struggled to feel anything at all, negative or positive about the main character...I felt it dragged on a bit!

Having loved all the John Boyne books I have read so far I have to say this was my least favourite.
Somewhat simply written without pompousness and yet trully enjoyable book! I would def recommend.

This book had a reasonable story but what i did not like about it was the way it jumped backewards and forwards between different periods of time.
One minute your in the 1800's suddenly next chapter your back to prsent day, was not easy to keep track of what was happening.
