I struggled at the end of this book but that may have been because of Dad’s death. Didn’t connect much with this book probably because I’m not a religious person
I can't even....Just read it.
In more detail, this is Pratchett's first treatise on the religion of philosophy and what we owe our fellow humans vs. the religion of trappings, ritual and dogma. It's incredibly effective, if less passionate than _Nation_.
You should read both.

Brilliant. Absolutely Brilliant. To be fair, I tried this shortly after starting to read Pratchett, about 6 years ago and didn't get far at all. I've read much more of him since then, familiarized myself with his voice and thought process (as much as possible). Apparently that was needed. This book takes on organized religion in a thoughtful and thought-provoking way that still is funny and human and full of his signature beautiful lines that make me catch my breath. Think for yourselves. be good because it's the right thing to do. Don't blindly follow.

I'd been meaning to read Terry Pratchett's books for a while; while not painfully funny as some of his other work as been described, I definitely enjoyed the wit and smart jokes, as well as the still very sensible way in which he approaches his overall points in the book. I don't know, this was pretty great, can't wait to dive deeper into his books

Reading Small Gods was so much better than what I expected. Yes, it had that signature Terry Pratchett dry satirical sometimes sarcastic humor, but it was also very, VERY thought-provoking on so many levels. I haven't read anything this loterally laugh out loud funny book, but equally witty, smart, and philosophical. I love how it tackled faith, the failures of religous establishments, idealism, and so much more.
I could say more, but I guess the most important thing is that we are here and it is now and we are alive. And all this, whatever THIS is, is not a game.
