Excellent! Creative, funny, and with a good story too. In short, everything I love about Pratchett.
Brutha's faith is strong, even when he is confronted with his god in the shape of an one-eyed tortoise. With his trademark humor, Pratchett takes Brutha on a journey from a caretaker of melons to a prophet for millions. This was the first Discworld book I ever read and, while it is different from most of the others, I still re-read it every year. Something about Brutha just tugs at my heartstrings, as well as tickling my funny bone.--Rebekka

Inspiring, philosophical, moving and deeply funny, it takes a while to get going but when it does it's Pratchett at his absolute best

One of my favorite Discworld adventures so far! Maybe best of the non-Death or City Watch books. Funny (of course) but a solid lob at organized religion!
For anyone interested in introducing themselves to the Terry Pratchett's writing, this is as good a start as any. The books in the Discworld are stand alone of sorts (they do reference past characters and incidents, but in a way that would not make a first time reader feel lost. However if you follow the books according to the date they were published, these references would surely add a smile to your face) and can be picked up from any series. However Small Gods seems like a great way to read the series as it is a healthy combination of Prachett's wit, humour and unpretentious philosophy.

Pratchett at his best. A look at his take on godliness, exposing a bit more about how divinity works on the Disc — and making a lot of critiques of religious authority while he does so.
