Wow! This book took me for an emotional ride. It is every mother’s worst fear having their child abducted. Right from the outset as a mother I wanted to cry with Megan. Then to have by some miracle your child back home with you, elation! Except it’s not. I could not put this book down with all the twists and turns I just had to know what was going to happen next. To say this book is terrifyingly amazing does not do it justice, a must read!

What a page turner. This book was so sad but so happy all at the same time. How intriguing it was too. I loved it

The book is about a psycho ex-husband who kidnaps his son to get even with his ex-wife. During the six years he has the boy (half the boy's life), he psychologically destroys this kid's outlook on everything, especially his mother.

I wasn't sure where this book was going to go as I kept reading. I worried that the father had completely ruined his son and his son was going to turn out to be a psychotic killer. That was not the case, thankfully.

I liked it.

This was a fast, easy read about a mom who loses her son because her ex-husband kidnaps him. Six years later, she gets her son back, but as can be imagined, things are very tricky. He has been brainwashed to hate his mother, so there are many challenges when he comes back at the age of 12. Making matters more tricky, the mom has remarried and has a baby girl. I can't imagine how hard all of this would be to handle, but it does work out nicely in the end. Yes, there is a bit of a twist which made the novel more fun.

This was an emotionally gripping story about the heartbreak of losing a child and the struggles that come along when he returns 6 years later.
"His father was the liar. He’d told the same lies over and over, making them part of who Daniel was until he believed everything he said. One lie on top of another, on top of another. Higher and higher went his father’s skyscraper of lies." (p279)
Greg is abusive and cruel, Megan knows she needs to divorce him for her sake and Daniel's. So she does.
One day, she goes to pick Daniel up from school, and his father has already taken him and fled.
One day, a kid shows up at the police station saying his father is dead, he died in a fire, and he is Daniel Stanthorpe.
Daniel's dad lies and is abusive and alienates him from his mother. Daniel doesn't know whether he can trust his mom or not when he returns. But the longer he stays with his mom, the more he wonders whether his dad was telling the truth or not.
Megan doesn't know what to do or how to handle Daniel since his return. He is a totally different kid, and she doesn't feel like she knows him anymore. Daniel is often angry and snaps at her, repeating what his father has told him all these years. She often thinks he sounds just like his father, and she is terrified of him at times.
The ending is jaw-dropping.

I enjoyed this book very much. Although the story line was fairly predictable, the build up of tension throughout was definitely real, and I found it hard to put down
