This book is infuriating. Near the start of the book, the Havoc boys say how they are direct with their communication and yet, throughout the book they have been anything but direct. The communication between them all is so poor. One of the main plot conflict themes could very much be resolved if literally any single one of them communicated.

Also, this is a RH and I'm not used to there being such possessiveness between the men in an RH. It was uncomfortable actually.
I don't particularly like any of the boys in this either. Maybe Aaron? Oscar is just boring. The only redeeming quality is that surely their communication improves? I'm also not really seeing any grovelling any necessary apologies. Also, feel like I'm being set up for "unexpected" pregnancy. Hate this trope so much.

I love the potential this story has and so I'm going to try the next one and hope it's better because this didn't quite hit the mark for me. And I'm disappointed about it.

Edit: DNF'd the series. I promise it doesn't get better.

Havoc runs Prescott high. Bernadette knows what she’s doing when she says their name the first day of senior year. She has a list of names she wants revenge on and she’s willing to pay Havoc’s price in exchange for their help. Two yrs ago she was the victim of their brutality but now she’ll weaponized them for herself.

There’s a bit of suspended belief needed for this book. The violence and how they get away with it, especially when their victims are upper class, isn’t very believable, but the story line is a slight shift from your typical gang/mafia why choose. Mostly due to the lower income plot, the way anyone can hire them for their services, and the struggle to figure out their varying relationships. The last part is really what intrigues me about this series so far.

Is it well-written? No. Does the plot make sense? Absolutely not. Did I enjoy it? Sure did.

The things that took me out of it were small but significant. The writing is really repetitive, and there are entire paragraphs of internal monologues that I felt like I'd read 10x before. Also, how are all of these teens completely covered in tattoos? One or two, I'd understand, but all 6 of them? I also really don't like when fad slang is used because it sounds so dated (for example, more than once, Bernie says her makeup is "on point). Also, I don't remember if it was in this book (I've read all 5 now) but I HATED the Covid references. They were so weird and unnecessary.

OK now I can see how this is going to continue to the next book because we’re still missing a WHOLE bunch of resolution.

I’m trying to figure out how the beginning meeting sophomore year happened what was the girls price for making her live for four months hell?! Why would they do that in the first place, especially Aaron.

Also, thinking are all of the boys going to be with her because it just seems like Victor is hogging a lot and very possessive.

Then you have almost all the characters I hate I don’t understand why they haven’t been taken care of in the permanent sense yet I’m hoping at least by book 3 will start seeing some permanent disappearances…maybe?!

I’ve never felt such discussed for a lot of the characters in here, but they are on her list so I can understand why she wants them to pay. My strongest feeling though is when we actually find out what happened sophomore year it’s going to destroy her and I am so nervous.
