H.A.V.O.C. Boys.
Hael, Aaron, Victor, Oscar, and Callum.
Their leader, Victor, turns around, leaving his open locker behind him, and crosses his inked arms over his equally inked-up chest. He's a fucking monster, this boy, six foot five with eyes like flint, and a mouth that's a hot slash of menace across the bottom of his handsome face. Like everyone else at Prescott High, he's got a history that's as dark as his violet-tinged black hair.
Callum smiles. It's not a nice smile. It's a smile nightmares are made of. His lips are full and pink, but I’m not fooled by that pretty-boy face of his. Cal’s blond hair hides the scars on his forehead, and the lowered hood of his sweatshirt helps shadow the ones on his throat. Blue eyes watch me curiously across the surface of the beat-up cafeteria table as he drums navy-painted fingernails on the edge of his tray.
Oscar Montauk greets me, standing up from his seat and staring down at me through a pair of rectangular-framed glasses. With his dark hair, aristocrat face, and sharp smile, he should be at Oak Valley Prep with all the rich dickheads. The thing is, Oscar Montauk isn't rich, and even if he is tall, and slender, and wears glasses … I once saw him curb stomp a guy. Plus, he's coated in ink and piercings like all the rest of them. They stop at his neck, fingers of color crawling out from under the collar of his shirt.
“When you’ve been lied to by everyone around you, when you have nothing else, you realize the one currency you can carry is truth. So a single word does have meaning. A promise does hold importance. And a pact is worth carrying to the grave.”
This time, I'm not kissing the prince to become the princess, I'm tonguing the villain to guarantee the destruction of others.
See, that's the thing with pain. Once it finds you and grabs hold, it doesn't let go easily. It's always there, a demon with reaching claws.
Confucius says dig two graves before
embarking on a journey of revenge.
But what if that revenge is the only thing keeping you alive? And what if the people you're seeking revenge on deserve it? If Batman had just killed the Joker from the get-go, how many more people would still be alive? Sometimes the bad guys have to die, so if I have to dig two graves, so be it. Better than digging three.

The ups and downs of the story were a little ok the obvious side but it was a fast pased and interesting story. I did enjoy it and look forward to the next one.
I swear to God if someone “grinds out” one more sentence… but still going to read the next one to see what happens!
I don't know for sure how to feel about this one. I felt like I was enjoying it? But there's so much shit going on in this book, so many TWs, that it's hard to keep up.
Incredible. Had me at page 1
This book has everything and steamy sex scenes. Whoa!! It's not like all the rest bully books in the sense that you don't have to go through all of it which I loved. Very refreshing and uniquely done. I'm just so so sad that I have to wait for book #2.

This book is terrible. I listened to the audiobook and the female narrator is robotic and the male narrator sounds like an old time gangster from the Bronx. The story is disjointed and could have been 1/4 the size and told the same story.
I love this series. I love this series. I fucking love this series.
Bernie is a good person, life's just dealt her a bad hand. She can't rely on her negligent mom or abusive step dad. She's grieving her dad and big sister. She's fiercely protective of her little half-sister.
Despite having dark history with members of the HAVOC gang, she's decided she needs them. Better the devil you know, and all that. So now she's trying to find a balance between keeping her sister safe and healing the relationships she has with the havoc boys.
My favorite thing about Bernie, is that she knows when not to water a dead flower. She doesn't sit there and try to mend relationships she knows are permanently broken. She looks to the future for her little sister. Even if Bernie herself won't be there to see it.

3.5 stars, rounded down.
First off, this is the kind of book where I just pretend the characters are at least 5 years older than they are because i just cannot believe a bunch of teenagers are running this little criminal empire, are feared by half the town, are tattooed from head to toe, have all these funds… you get it. Gotta suspend that disbelief I guess
Otherwise, it’s a decent book. The writing is okay (if a bit “overproduced” at times) and it’s certainly entertaining, but it’s… well, it’s got that guilty pleasure fanfic feeling to it. The book equivalent to the reality tv show you just can’t help watching. It’s self indulgent and unrealistic in that way that self insert fanfiction is, and there’s just SO much going on. So many plot lines being opened, not enough of them being resolved. And lbr, with 5 love interests, it’s not all that easy to actually flesh out the dynamics between them and the protagonist.
Speaking of which, this shit is dark. Please adhere trigger warnings for mentions of rape, pedophilia, suicide, violence, bullying and everything along those lines. This is definitely not a happy go to book and darker than previous bully-to-lovers books I’ve read. Since it all happens in flashbacks and there seems to be more to the story I’m willing to swallow down my discomfort with it but ngl, it’s a lot.
Don’t know if I would recommend it to someone else, but I’ll admit, I’m intrigued, and I’ll stick with the series. I mean, there’s four more books to do the things I’m missing now, no? Besides, there’s no way I can just let that cliffhanger be like that… and as self indulgent and unrealistic as it may be, there’s something so very alluring about this premise of being the girl that 5 tough guys consider their own and would kill for…
