I liked the idea but overall the book seemed juvenile and underdeveloped

God, what a beautiful book. I hope Lettie Hempstock is sleeping peacefully in the ocean.

Like a memory half shrouded, Gaiman's short novel has fuzzy borders; it's not really one thing or another and it's meaning will probably change over time. At times wistful, full of whimsy and others horrifying, facing a nightmare through child eyes. As with some memories, this had some vague feeling of being incomplete and I can't help feel it was on purpose. Memories are full if color and emotion and fire, but the meaning of them depends on you and what you do with them even as they fade.

Neil Gaiman always writes such creative stories, but this one was a little too odd for me. It was also a little slow, despite being such a short book.

I know this is sacrilegious but I just don’t think I’m a huge fan of Gaiman’s.

Short story that lingers in your mind for a while. Really enjoyed it.

Wow, mind blown. What a unique and interesting story. I was captivated and at the edge of my seat the whole read.

I'm not sure what to say about this book. It's rendered me speechless.

Like most Neil Gaiman books I went in blind, not knowing anything about the story. Like most Neil Gaiman books, I ended up loving the story. He does such a great job of making me turn each page and not wanting to put the book down, as cliché as that sounds. I would rank this at the top of my list next to The Graveyard Book and Anasi Boys. Very much worth the read!
