This is a book of longing. This book makes you want to reach out and grasp the reality that you know deep inside you is there and is true but cannot be apprehended by your earth bound senses. This book tells you suffering has purpose, that sacrifice is worthwhile, that evil will be balanced.

Pretty quick read, finished in one sitting. It wasn't robust as his other stories but the world and characters were great. I feel it left the backstory of the characters up to me which was a lot fun.

Questo romanzo scorre piacevolmente, sia per la scrittura sempre meravigliosa dell’autore sia per la sua brevità. Tutto gli elementi sono inseriti al punto e nel modo giusto: i personaggi, dal protagonista a quelli secondari, sono più o meno approfonditi in base proprio a ciò che rappresentano nella storia; la trama non è mai prevedibile, ma non è neanche eccessivamente complessa e frenetica; il world building è adatto alla brevità del romanzo, ma anche all’idea che sta dietro. In poche pagine, Neil Gaiman riesce, magistralmente, a farci vedere il mondo con gli occhi di un bambino.

Definitely different to anything else I've read. It was a disappointingly short read, but that's not to say it wasn't brilliant. I just wished it had gone on for longer, didn't want it to end.
Whimsical and enchanting, I listened to the audiobook narrated by Neil Gaiman which made it even better.

I just feel a bit unsatisfied although I knew it was going to be a little weird because it's Neil Gaiman. At some points I did think 'what is going on?' because I felt like it doesn't explain itself.
