this book was literally so cool, creepy, and fun to read :)
IT was ok. I never really connected with the characters, but I couldn't tell you why. THe plot was interesting in parts and riddled with what felt to me like cliche's in other parts.
I didn't feel like the narrative flowed all that well. Often it felt to me like a list of things that happened instead of a story. "This happened. That happened," repeated too often for me.
I've had pretty much the same reaction to his other books, and don't understand why he's such a highly rated author. Obviously I'm missing whatever it is that so many other people love.

Reading this reminded me of Bridge to Terabithia with the outdoor adventures and the childlike imagination

Neil Gaiman has a way of making you feel you live in a story, and that that story is your own life. Reading The Ocean at the End of the Lane was like revisiting a childhood I don't remember having. But a childhood so close to the tangled and half-remembered shreds of my own it might as well have been mine. Whether there is actual magic, or just the magic of a childish mind, untarnished by years of life, childhood is a time of mystery and strangeness. Neil captured that so vividly I never wanted to leave. But, like childhood, all books end. It's well we can pick them up again and reread them like familiar paperbacks.
I don't really know what to say about this book, apart from 'it was lovely'.
It's one of the loveliest books I have ever read.

This was really good! It didn't change my life, but I liked it. In the audiobook, you can listen to Gaiman sing the things that the narrator sings, which is really fun, actually.
Four stars have been awarded for the prevalence of cats and for mysterious, world-bending female supernatural entities older than the earth itself. One star is missing because I am the same exact person I was before I read this book.
Total score: 4/5 stars

I enjoyed this book but had a hard time decided between rating it 2.5 or 3 stars. I didn't love it, I found some bits slow and unnecessary description but overall I liked it and I finished liking it? Idk, tough to fully judge but I'm giving it the higher of the two because I think there's some interesting world exploring and strange magic going on
Neil Gaiman changes my life every single time i read one of his books and for that i thank him.
