I liked this series. I've had a difficult time rating and had to sit on it for a bit. The narrator is great (narrating is so difficult and so much work), but I had a hard time with how she chose to voice the Hawthorn brothers. All of them sound the same and they all sounded like really stereotypical southern 'hicks'—not like they'd grown up with silver spoons in their mouths.
The mysteries throughout the series are all nicely done and add a lot of intrigue--the way Barnes ends the book is satisfying and pertinent for today's world with its strange billionaire unbalance. The narration has gotten in the way of how I view the characters. I think I'll give it a couple years and re-read with my eyeballs and see how I feel about it all.

It was okay but overall it felt a bit underwhelming. I’m glad I’m done with it tho and that I read the series
The plot wasn’t that interesting to be honest and it got confusing at times. It was slow at first but then got a bit better I guess? I´m still not sure why Tobias chose her? I dont know how to feel about this book tbh and I dont know how to feel about the ending, it didn’t make a lot of sense?
Jameson and Grayson need psychologists not love interests but that’s a conversation we can have another day
When it comes to the love triangle it was non existent in this one. It felt the author put all her energy about it in the second one and then didn’t have time for it here. After this endgame I just feel like what was the love triangle even for? With that said let me just add - Grayson deserved better.
This series had potential and I loved the first book but the other two were just okay in my opinion

Once again: Jennifer Lynn Barnes should pay our therapy. WHY JAMESON AND NOT GRAYSON. I understand why but grays will always be my favourite!! And yes ik this comment is really random but idc
the first 60% of this book was nothing special and rather boring. but…then it PICKED UP. that’s been a trend with this series; a slooooowwwww start, followed by a captivating end. I was super happy with the chess tourney and the queens gambit tie in! very fitting and clever! also the end felt like the correct conclusion. except for the love triangle. THATS THE WRONG BROTHER. oh and the whole grayson/eve thing was so. weird. but anyways very excited for the next two!!!
