Freida McFadden

3.8 AVERAGE

4 stars, solely based on the enjoyment I had reading this. I couldnt stop, i keep wanting more. And just when i thought i know what’s gonna happen, this books landed a bomb.
I see many people say that this is their least favourite FM book, but as someone who hasnt read any FM, I think this is quite an enjoyable mystery book.
Although i did ate it up, i still thought it was abit flat on the suspense. Im not a big mystery type of person, but when reading mystery/thriller i always hope to get of suspense. But this book doesnt give too much of tht.

⭐️2.5 i think i need to stop reading freidas book and move onto a better thriller author cos half of them are just so bad

I enjoyed it…until the end. All of that buildup, suspense, mystery for it to just…end that way?

Come on Freida! Are you even trying?
fast-paced

This was my very first Frieda McFadden book and… wow, I get the hype now. 👀
From page one, I was hooked. The pacing was super fast (those short, bingeable chapters are dangerous lol) and I kept telling myself “just one more” until suddenly I was halfway through. The tension kept building, the characters all felt a little suspicious, and I was constantly side-eyeing everyone trying to figure out who to trust.
Now, I thought I had it all figured out. I had my guesses, I pieced together some theories, and I was feeling pretty confident. 😂 But nope—I was so wrong. The twist totally blindsided me (in the best way), and I love when a thriller manages to surprise me like that.
Overall, The Boyfriend was such a solid, addictive read. Dark, twisty, entertaining, and exactly what I want in a thriller when I’m in the mood to get lost in a story. I can definitely say this won’t be my last Frieda McFadden—I’m already eyeing her backlist. 👏

I have to admit, I wanted to start disliking Freida’s books after discovering that The Housemaid was loosely inspired by another author’s work, The Last Mrs. Parrish (which I’ve read). But then she hits me with this book, and I couldn’t resist—she completely caught me off guard with the ending! I even tried to anticipate the twists by thinking like Freida, but she still managed to surprise me. Now I’m hooked and absolutely need a sequel!
