The beautiful soul of St. Therese, the little flower, is an inspiration. The love poured into the pages of this book is immeasurable. I will be sure to read this again.

This autobiography of the modern saint is quite a charming read. St. Thérèse's example of simplicity is much needed in this day and age when we have so much stuff that seeks to complicate our lives. Perhaps her most valuable lesson is that for which she is probably most well-known: doing little things with great love.

This is a wonderful look into the mind of a beautiful saint! Her faith and humility is an incredible guide for all of us to imitate in order to more deeply follow Christ. There were so many places I stopped to marvel at the depth of her faith even as a small child! Her transformation from that childlike faith to the obedience of the cloister brought me closer to the process of offering the trials of life back to God, with Him as the center of all our actions and relationships. I love the level of trust she carries with her for God, and uses that trust to guide her every action with others. That's something we could all use throughout every day.

I know a lot of people like this book but it didn't click for me. First saint book I've read that I feel like I wouldn't have liked the saint in real life. I think my personality must just be too different or something.

I finally gave up on "The Story of a Soul". Therese de Lisieux's craving for hardship, pain, and punishment was just too much for me. I am no longer a Christian (haven't been for quite a while) and the philosophy exhibited by Therese is part of the reason. So I admit, no longer being a Christian, I may just not understand what she was trying to say. I do believe in her love for God, it is just not the way I want to live my life, and I find her values painful.

It was really nice getting an inside view of what a Carmelite's life was/is like. I got quite tired of it by the end, though.

Such an inspiring story, this woman knew from a very young age what her purpose was.
