"That beautiful feeling is for all girls. That beautiful feeling is for me."
This is such a sweet and enlightening story about a girl with cerebral palsy during her senior year of high school, and all the things she has to consider when choosing a college.
I loved this story. It definitely has a very YA feel, so it may not be one that all adult readers will enjoy, but as I am trying to read more diverse stories and learn more about people whose lives are different than my own, I thought it was important to include disabilities in that list, and I this book absolutely opened my eyes to things that I never gave much thought to before.
It's also just a very sweet, inspirational read.

So so excellent. Super cute story filled with a protagonist that you just want to rally behind. This was the first novel I've read where the main character uses a wheelchair, and I appreciated the glimpse into her world. Both the author and the narrator use wheelchairs as well, and their interview at the end of the audiobook is a great addition. This is definitely a novel I'll want for my shelf.

This is a clean book that I will happily recommend to the true YA crowd. It is about finding yourself, accepting yourself as you are, and being true to yourself and being open to new ideas
My first (and hopefully not last) read that is from the POV of a wheelchair user! It was so interesting and made me think about all those little things I take for granted / don't even need to consider day to day. Talking about staircases - "There is a whole other layer to our school's architecture that I don't understand at all, a subsection of this world that doesn't belong to me."
Beautifully captured that sense of awe and wonder and I felt when first travelling in high school - "Even simple things I've seen my whole life - banks, Gap store, and Hard Rock Cafes - feel more than what they are." (Me marvelling over the garbage bins in Italy). "It's so much to take in, and I am only one tiny dot in this moving mass. But maybe, right now, a plane is flying over, and they see that big mass of lights. Today, I'm part of that, too."
Effie discovering the Divinely Disabled college club and feeling the huge inclusion of like-minded community for that first time also made me hella nostalgic and appreciative of my DRAMAC days, and finding my own people.
Also captured that huge teenage feeling of the importance of music and lyrics - "There are times when you feel like a song finds you at the exact right time, like the only explanation is someone got into your brain and put your thoughts to a melody, matched your constant looping rumination into a catchy chorus." (Lol @ me discovering Slipknot)
I would love to see a sequel! I can also imagine it as a great little TV series or movie.

Una buena lectura. Fue muy agradable ver a Effie crecer y madurar. Los asuntos de accesibilidad sobre los que el libro llama la atención resultan muy interesantes.

If you are a teacher, YA who is college bound, or you work with people w/ mobility concerns, please consider picking up this book!!! Several passages really hit my mind and heart in exactly the right way and made me think about my past-along with future goals. It is awful that some people are limited in their opportunities because of physical needs and that people who can make it easier for someone aren't always empathetic enough to help make changes.
I will be recommending this book to everyone, but writing anything else will probably give too many spoilers.
