The Hatmakers

While I loved the Victorian/steampunky feel of this at points I couldn't shake the feeling that it feels like this has been done before. As a young girl grieves the loss of her father, the tensions between the city's Maker families (Hatmakers, Bootmakers, Glovemakers, Watchmakers, and Clockmakers) comes to a head. While I enjoyed the world this concept felt awfully familiar and every turn was predictable.

Very good world building on the mechanics and traditions of all the Makers guilds.

I predicted the villain and the thief. Would have been higher ranked if it was more mysteries'. I am interested in the next book storyline with her dad and all that! Def. Be reading book 2!
