The author had a strong message which was clear throughout the book however it left the characters flat. It took cue as “my mother” to understand which point of view we were reading. It also took about two third of the book to finally ‘start’ the story and I do love a slow pace however the world was not filled enough to entertain the reader during the slow pace.
It is a three stars for me, with an addition of 0,25 for the fairy tale ending.
I did appreciate the content warnings at the beginning of the book.

Absolutely loved this book! Very well written with a brilliantly thought out plot that had me second guessing what I’d previously read.

Ever Cursed was such an interesting read! The world is so unique and creative!
The concept of witches was so different from anything I've read and the rules of the spells were so cool!
I loved the topics it addresses. Some are very uncomfortable and hard to talk about but they are important and they need to be addressed. I felt the power behind this story as things came to a close and I was ready to applaud for the outcome!
I did not connect with the characters as deeply as I had hoped. The characterization was a little less than what I usually like to see but that's something specific to my preference so I don't think all readers will feel this way.
I did really appreciate the growth of the relationship between Reagan and Jane. I also did not see some of those plot twists coming at all.
Overall, Ever Cursed tells a great story that is wildly unique and incredibly relevant to today's world.

I’m not sure why but I didn’t have very high expectations for this book when I first picked it up, but it was small and looked like an easy read so I started reading and I can tell you, I absolutely loved it! I love the storyline, the amount of plot twist and the feminism. I also love how it’s about finding the truth and how the world works. I just couldn’t put the book down and I recommend every one to read it!
The princesses of Ever were cursed on their thirteenth birthdays. Just before the oldest princess’s thirteenth birthday, a young witch, Reagan, visited them, cursed the five princesses, and enclosed their mother in a glass box. On each of their thirteenth birthdays they would be cursed, each girl losing the ability to eat, to sleep, to love, to remember, or to hope. The princesses will have just a few days to break the curse after the youngest princess turns thirteen and before the witch turns eighteen, which will make the curses last forever. The eldest princess, Jane, who has lost the ability to eat, has to look after her sisters and figure out how to break the curse, while also learning why they were cursed in the first place.
This story was set in a fairytale-like kingdom called Ever, but the serious subject matter wasn’t like a children’s fairytale. The Kingdom looked picturesque from the outside, but their history was filled with sexual assaults and rape. These things were hinted at through the beginning of the book, and weren’t confirmed until partway through, but I think it was obvious that that was what happened. These serious issues reminded me of the dark subject matter of the original Grimm’s fairytales, which were disturbing and not always meant for children.
I was hopeful for the princesses throughout the story, though they kept having bad things happen to them. It was getting so bad that I didn’t see how it could possibly have a happy ending. I won’t spoil the ending, but I think it was fitting for the story.
This is a great fairytale fantasy with contemporary themes.

well, i did just get drawn to this book by its cover, then persuaded myself to buy it because the plot seemed promising, and in the same day consumed the book in its entirety - so i suppose that means something is being done right already.
but, while i do think it was special and not entirely what i expected, yet still engaging enough to keep my attention, the one-dimensional "good/bad guy" rhetoric didn't quite cut it for me. so yeah, worldbuilding did fall quite flat, but as a casual short & easy read, this isn't too bad.
