I read this book like two years ago an dab I remember the overall story of it being interesting but also kinda of traumatizing and depressing.
This book starts out slow but the pace picks up after the first 100 pages as things are found out the story and characters were really interesting to read about. The characters were very great to read about especially Jane and Reagan one being cursed to not be able to eat and the other being the witch who cast the curse. Jane starts out meek and quiet girl who just wants the curse to end so that she her sisters and mother will not have to live like this anymore but by the end she is much stronger and takes the lead in ending the curse and freeing all of her people. As for Reagan I liked how she did what she did out of love for her mother but she went about it all wrong it is not right to punish those who did not deserve it. The story starts out with talking of the curse and how it all effects Jane her sister and their mother and how Jane just wants it to end the story moves to Reagan and we start to slowly find out why she takes Jane and her sisters to find out what is going on in their kingdom they see terrible things and Reagan tells them why she did and they just can't believe their father the king would do that after they return after the horrible run in with foreign royals Jane and her sisters believe what Reagan told them so the kind imprisons them only for Jane to escape after that they finally find everything needed to end the curse after a while and much effort it is ended and there is finally the well deserved happy ending.
This was very different from my normal read. It is fantasy, but a twisted fantasy without romance. It is about four sisters who are spellbound by a young witch. The story is dual POV from the witch and the oldest sister's perspectives. The witch and the sisters must work together to break the curse. I usually like to read romance, but I liked the mystery and plot twists this book had to offer.

3.5 stars; this was a really interesting concept, but not executed as well as it could have been throughout a lot of the book. the ending was very well done, but i wish the relationships between the characters had been built up more. i also wish that we got perspectives from all the spellbound sisters, not just jane. i appreciated the message of women's empowerment and standing up against sexual assault, especially that which is carried out by men with influence and power.
Let's start with the first thing I knew about this book and what dragged me in - I am obsessed with the cover! That cover is really gorgeous! I was pleasantly surprised that I did enjoy the story very much. However, this book was HEAVY and a tough read. I highly recommend it, but with caution.
Thank you to NetGalley for giving me an eArc of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This book is very similar to Damsel by Elena K Arnold! That being said- it was not an easy read at times. It’s not super detailed in those hard moments, it’s more skimmed over, but it still happens.
I was a little disappointed overall though because the world building, character development, and magic system were all lacking for me! Things were explained, but I still felt confused and unsatisfied. It was a cute story though, just not as deep as I imagined it to be.

Several lgbtq+ background characters, and it's mentioned in a very casual way, which I love. The book explores a lot of important themes (like privilege, ignorance, and how to change the world), and the characters are all complex and human. However, the plot was a little slow and didn't quite manage to capture me.
