Anthologies have a tendency to be hit or miss since the author/voice changes with each new story. This one was a big miss for me. The majority of the stories seemed to be purple prose with no plot. The flow from story to story felt very clunky, like there wasn't a lot of thought as to what order they should be in. I think I would have enjoyed it just a little bit more if there was more consistency in the organization and I wasn't constantly jumping back and forth from good story to not-so-good story every 20 pages.

I would like to give a shoutout to the stories that I thought were absolutely amazing and I would have loved to see more of that world:
As Red As Blood, As White As Snow by Christina Henry
Listen by Jen Williams (my favorite)
Henry and the Snakewood Box M.R.Carey
Again by Tim Lebbon

I'll be honest, if you're looking for an anthology of stories, maybe look for a different one.

As with any short story anthology this was hit and miss, but the ones that did hit were brilliant. As a big fan of Angela Slatter I was looking forward to her story, New wine, and it didn't disappoint. Loved a few other stories such as Listen, At that age, and Henry and the Snakewood box. Some stories I found made me cringe a bit as they felt a little too light-hearted or silly for me or just simply weren't to my sense of humour at all. Overall though a pretty good collection of short, horror stories that was enjoyable.

A multitude of different short stories.

Some I loved and devoured, some I re-read with delight and there was definitely 1 or 2 that I skimmed over at the offence of it being boring.

I think short stories is a whole different writing skill set - and not all writers have that ability, so some stories definitely show cased that.

My love that makes up for all the bad stories: Neil Gaiman. <33
