While the underlying story is horrible and heartbreaking, the way this book itself was written made it a chore to get through (at least for me). I was not a fan of this author's writing style.

I’m pretty picky when it comes to true crime literature, because I consume a lot (read an unhealthy amount) of true crime via podcasts. I heard about this Australian true crime story on the Australian True Crime podcast, where they were interviewing the author. The book had a good rating and so my interest was piqued.

This book is a deep dive into the tragic double murder of a mother and young daughter. The author tells a very detailed account from the discovery of the remains, through to the investigation and conclusion/prosecution of the case. The detailed forensics and police investigation were particularly fascinating for me.

A beautifully composed novel about the true tragic story of a mother and daughter. They deserved so much better.

I have now words to describe how well this author handled these absolutely heinous and live altering crimes.

Ava Benny-Morrison was respectful and considerate when it came to talking and discussing the victims lives and their stories.

There are major points in this case that should be looked at again. But overall this book highlights the great side and range of abilities that our justice system has here in Australia.
