I think this was a really unique spin on his origin story. It was well thought out and the artwork in itself was amazing. The only reason I could not give it 5 stars was because some of it was predictable. I already knew what would happen before the storyline moved there. In my honest opinion I think that alot of hardcore superman fans might not like it due to change, but it is my belief that with this new look at superman this book will draw in alot of new readers.I am a little more intrigued by DC comics and can't wait to see what they come up with next.
I received this advanced reader's copy in a giveaway on Goodreads by DC Comics!

Somber without being melodramatic, and different enough without being too far removed. I've enjoyed this reinterpretation before and nothing's changed here. Aside from the art, and Syaf's more than stepped up to bat.

While I would have preferred an introduction of Supergirl here, I get that this is hyper-focused on Clark's story. Once I got there, the revisitation of Zod not only makes sense, but is, in fact, a lot of fun. I like that it isn't overly drawn out, that it pulls from seeds planted in the earlier books, and more than just about anything, I LOVE the depiction of Lex Luthor. It is by far my favorite, and were I not certain no one else will do Lex like this, I would say this book alone has redeemed the character for me.

Additionally, Lisa is further developed here, and continues to be a bright spot in an already brilliant take on Superman.

The art continues to be top notch and the lack of clean lines even seem to help. Normally I don't like such a 'dirty' style, but I think it works here better than it should. Davis and Syaf do fantastic work on this series.

Give us more, Straczynski and co.

I really enjoy the Earth One series. This one had great story telling and fantastic art. I like the changesto Zod and Lex Luthor. Clark Kent is much cooler here too.

Pretty good ending to the Earth One series. I didn't like Zod that much, never have mainly because of he movies, but it's a good enough graphic novel.

In the third volume of "Earth One," Superman's two most popular villains are reintroduced and redefined in an epic way. Zod comes to Earth to battle Kal-El, and finds a chilling ally. Straczynski is fearless at introducing new characters and radically changing classic ones in a way that fits this new world. This series is great.
