Exciting new series from Boom Comics. Looking forward to the next issue.

This is part of my October #HauntedReads.

Story goes from 0-100 quickly. It's intense and a little gorier than I'm used to, but it's absorbing. I couldn't put this down. Great for fans of Stranger Things!
The only complaint I had was that some of the pages read left to right across both pages, but some of them read the left page first and then the right (as usual, I guess), so that got confusing, but it didn't detract much from the story.
Very excited to read more from this series!

2024: Reread, trying to get caught up. I love how deliberate the character introductions are - especially Erica the monster hunter (smash cut not to her fighting a monster, but cleaning herself up after fighting one). Love the panel where James is entirely shrouded in darkness but his glasses are illuminated. James Tynion is so fucking good.

2019: I went in with zero expectations and oh. My. God. I have never felt this catered to in my LIFE! Everything I love about horror is here, the art is exceptional, and the characters are SO memorable and intriguing.

that was really cool!!

you can thank jayson for getting me interested in this comic based on the high rating given to this. i'm super intrigued to read more of this! the art is super cool, and the arrangement of the panels on some pages as well es the atmosphere was quite eerie.

i'm looking forward to read more of this!

Scary stuff, too much for me, so I will not be reading further. However, the characters are dynamic. I really like James as the title lead. I think he’s got inner demons he’s working out and this opening lead you to seeing some without giving away too much. I also liked that you were exposed to the monster from the book without it being the entire opening. Recommended for fans of horror, just not for me.

This first issue does a lot of setting up for the rest of the series, and it does well setting up a very creepy mood. What it does best is make me want to read the next issue.

This was a great start to the series! Who wouldn't love a monster-hunting duo? I'm really intrigued to see where this goes and all the violence/horror it's going to bring.

Solid start to another sci-fi YA graphic novel. I've just used all of my Hoopla credits to download several more issues of this series.
