Slow beginning, took me awhile to get through this...once I hit half way I flew through it. It definitely kept me interested and guessing. I couldn’t put it down once I hit the second half. I do however feel very confused and wasn’t super excited about the ending - I was hoping for more closure then what we were left with.

Was a pretty good whodunnit. A few too many characters points of view perhaps made it disjointed for me, especially if you don't read a lot of it at a time. Overall well done, but nothing special.

The mystery kept me going, but why are so many people so damn unlikeable? Had the same problem in books like 'Murders at Fleat house' and actually 'the girl on the train' as well (liked this mystery better than the latter tho)

The plot in this is rather disjointed despite suspensful, but again Hawkins' writing makes sure to wreck our brains, with a cliffhanger this time.

“No one liked to think about the fact that the water in that river was infected with the blood and bile of persecuted women, unhappy women; they drank it every day.”

WOW, this is -by far- the best thriller I've ever read. Paula's writing style is amazing and so fast paced.
and she's able to change perspectives really well.. I actually hated that the book had a lot of POVs and it was kinda slow at the beginning for me , but then it picked up and when I knew who was who I saw that changing perspectives was what kept the story going
I loved it so much, imma be reading anything she writes

After her sister is tragically found dead at the bottom of the infamous river in her town, Jules reluctantly returns to her childhood home to sort out her sister’s affairs and look after her 15-year-old niece, Lena. But this isn’t the first woman who’s died in that water and... read the full spoiler-free review here: https://www.amysbookshelf.co.uk/2024/07/into-the-water-book-review/

Soooooo many characters, it was difficult to keep up. I appreciate the ending and wrapping everything up.
