After suffering the death of her father, this author decided to do 1000 "mitzvahs" (or good deeds) in his honor as a way to work through her grief. It took her just over 2 years to complete all of the good deeds. Some were small and some were large. This book is organized by theme (like food kindnesses, or volunteering) rather than a chronological list of the mitzvahs. Much of the author's service and commentary focus on her Jewish faith. All together, I enjoyed it.

This was a breezy read and a beautiful reminder that it is easier to do things for other people than we think. And we spend so much time doing things for other people that we don't give ourselves credit for. It's also a beautiful reminder why faith can keep us present. It's also an interesting take on someone's grieving process.
