I really enjoyed this book and what it represents. Its a 4.5 for me because I felt like it got a bit boring at one point but overall it was a powerful story and loved the ending

SPOILERS!: I really enjoyed the setting during the Vietnam War and its viewpoint from that of a nurse in the field. I loved all of that and how it helped inform the realities for our troops and medical staff. I just honestly disliked the protagonist.  I would have loved to have seen more of her in the life she eventually builds for herself and other veterans. We get a glimpse, but I think more of that would have helped me see her in a positive light and like her more. Otherwise, we are left with a character that I never took to before her loss and trauma, and who made deliberately horrible decisions to harm people that I can't allow the trauma to excuse entirely.
