This book surprised me. I REALLY enjoyed it.
This book caught my attention from the very beginning and held it all the way through, despite not being entirely within my usual genre. While some of the political aspects and slight leanings into conspiracy theories weren’t exactly my preference, the story itself was gripping and refreshingly different from the thrillers I’ve read recently.
What stood out the most for me was the author’s writing style. The immersive narration made it easy to step into the protagonist’s shoes, with descriptions that felt vivid and real. The historical and factual references—such as reflections on prison life and missed global events like the COVID-19 pandemic and Trump’s election victory—added to the believability of the story. Additionally, the emotional depth and decision-making of the protagonist felt highly authentic, making her journey all the more compelling.
The plot twist at the end took me by surprise, though it wasn’t entirely flawless. While it was well-executed, it felt slightly underwhelming considering how much of the book had been building up to it. A bit more time spent on the climax could have made the resolution even stronger.
That being said, this was still a great read—an unexpected find from an author I wasn’t familiar with.
