There were many things about the book I liked, but it did very much feel like a debut novel to me. Such an interesting time period, and I enjoyed the writing style and definitive Welshness of the first portion of the book. Some plot threads weren't resolved though, and I would have loved more insight into some of the tough decisions Eluded had to make. While Neon Roses had some flaws, I think it's a great first book and I'm interested in reading future works by the author.
