Cleopatra and Frankenstein follows the story of the whirlwind romance between Cleo and Frank as they navigate their lives as newlyweds. Along the journey their friends get swirled into the picture and all their perspectives build up into this story.
Really enjoyed this book and I finished reading it in a matter of days. I loved how each chapter had a different characters perspective so you got to see what each of their lives were like as well as what each of them thought about all the different situations that were happening in each others lives. It does get quite intense in some chapters, with characters self sabotaging and sabotaging the others in their lives. I found myself rooting for certain characters and happy that they ended up bettering themselves. It does shine a light on how quick things can spiral out of control however. I will say (and this is more of a personal perspective), but I found when characters seem so perfectly perfect (despite it being heavily emphasised that they’re imperfect), I do tend to feel jealousy as to why that isn’t me. I think when characters are often romanticised or they seem like this perfectly messy character, the line for me gets blurred between fiction and wishing I was them in real life.

Read it so quickly and LOVED every second. Each character having their own chapter and time jumps kept the pace choppy and engaging. No page was wasted. You were given exactly the amount of information needed to understand the arc of the characters and really care about them. The introduction of Eleanor midway through, as the only character to speak in 1st tense was a delightful shock.
