I had a hard time with the writing style at first but eventually I got caught up in the story and wasn't bothered by the writing as much. This was a shocking and sad story but an interesting read.

The ending was completely underwhelming, but his story is heartbreaking and makes you realize how lucky you have it. Makes you realize now matter how bad it is, you can always have worse.

wow. Western countries often paint North Korea as a hell on earth, but as history shows, it’s always worse than what one on the outside could imagine. This book is a raw story of his journey in a utopia of falsehoods.

To say that this author is strong would be an injustice to the struggles that he has faced throughout his life. The extent of his loss and grief is absolutely heartbreaking to read. I’m incredibly grateful for his vulnerability in this book.
