idk why but I thought this was written by a woman when I checked it out, and this is so very clearly a BOY book. Which is not bad or wrong, I just was not expecting so much violence, heists, action, etc. I thought it was a contemporary literature exploration of race/class/crime in America but it really felt like an Ocean's 11 installment. 

Idk who I thought the author was, I think I was thinking of Atticka Locke when I placed a hold but yeah with that expectation this just did not live up to an incredible read for me. I thought it was just fine.

S. A. Cosby's book is must-read. He is a master at setting, character, and suspense. The family dynamics and the dichotomies of character conflict are so well done. And I loved seeing all the familiar places in central and coastal Virginia.
