While there were a small handful of poems in here I enjoyed, a majority of this collection gave off a "you're a strong woman, because I--a man--said you are" vibe. A majority of the poems felt repetitive and regurgitated from many of the other common instagram-typewriter poetry types.
A brief summary on 146 pages of mediocre (at best) poetry:
She's broken.

I did like a few poems...but this book is extremely repetitive (for me at least).

There were two themes.
“I hate a woman” and “I love a woman”.
The same two poems regurgitated over the course of 200 pages.

I found this to be a mediocre book of poetry. Basically no imagery and most of it felt obvious. There were things about it that felt strange. Primarily, I wonder if it was too exploitative of women, and their pain. 'Broken' was a word used often about women. I also wondered about the use of the words 'deserve' and 'not good enough' in the context of relationships. The whole book just made me feel a little anxious and shifty.

Definitely not my favorite book of poetry I have picked up...there were a few that I felt were pretty but for such a big book of poetry - I felt like many pieces were extremely similar and repetitive.
I have the 2nd and 3rd books to this set -- no promise I will be reading them.
