Starts in a frustrating way, but then it picks up and flies, never to slow again!
slow-paced

wasn’t terrible, so slow in the middle though

Was there a Lucy Score Cameo in this book?!!!!
Cameo mystery/suspicions/I am sure I am right! I saw on amazon that it is a cameo... disappointed it was not a secret. Not a sleuth obviously
Anyway, the review:
I enjoyed the plot of this rom-com. I love LS's ability to make characters so believable and rooted in reality, even though the MC is a billionaire. I enjoyed the easy banter of Emily and Derek and the meet-nude (aha), I liked the cast of characters, and the friendships. I knew who the 'bad guy' was from the initial interaction but still enjoyed the reveal regardless. The end really made this book, I loved the development of Emily throughout. Another amazing book by Lucy Score.

Spoiler
on Lucy Score's instagram there is a post of LS with a "I can be bribed with Taco's" shirt posing in front of the cover of this book. There is a character a 'romance writer' in the book, and in the end, the 'romance writer' the LS cameo(?), speaks to the MC, and the 'romance writer' was "in yoga pants and a Tequila Tacos and Naps shirt". THE VERY OUTFIT LS WORE ON HER INSTA POST! Also possible cameo's of the other writers in this book, however, unclear on who is whoAnyway, the review:

A new series, a new cast of characters and Lucy Score starts it off with a fantastic story!
This introduction to a new series is phenomenal and classic Ms. Score. You get heart, you get heat, a bit of a mystery and oh the laughs!
This is the story of Emily Stanton. Billionaire, science geek and the boss of her domain! When scandal rocks her world, she is introduced (in a hilarious and outrageous way) to Derek Price, fixer and crisis manager extraordinaire!
I want to live in the world that Ms. Score has created, from the beautiful Miami scene with its style and drag bars to the beautifully described enclave of Bluewater. The residents, both human and animal are fabulous and bring levity to the story.
Emily and Derek's chemistry is hotter than the asphalt in Miami and the quick dialogue and sparring between the two of them is epic.
The secondary cast of characters and the introduction to the other "vagillionaires" in this series are done with wit and style! I loved the cameos of other romance authors and I cannot wait for Daisy, Cameron and Luna's stories!
If you are looking for a fresh, funny and swoony story get your hands on this!

Lucy Score kicks off this new series with The Price of Scandal. Emily is the main character and she's a brilliant scientist and billionaire CEO of her own company. Then an unexpected twist happens which brings into her life Derek. Derek Price is a consultant that cleans up clients images. He's never been one to mix his work with his pleasure but he's seriously tempted to with Emily.
Derek and Emily's chemistry is fiery hot and full of outrageously funny interactions! The Price of Scandal is an enemies-to-allies-to-lovers workplace romcom with a meet-nude. The Bluewater Billionaires series is about four lady billionaire BFFs written by Lucy Score, Pippa Grant, Kathryn Nolan and Claire Kingsley but each book can be read as a stand-alone if you wanted to. You might miss out on some of the character references and cameos that occur but it's not crucial to the story.

Read with my pandemic book club and we had a great discussion about romance novels, the Bechdel test, and strong women. I liked the characters and their banter.
This checked all my boxes for contemporary romance - kick ass brilliant science nerd heroine, handsome sassy and empathetic hero, a solid taste of the lifestyles of the rich to give me a dreamlike feel to the read. Heroine is surrounded by strong women as her chosen family. Got into this series as it's a collab with another author I follow (Claire Kingsley), but I really enjoyed Lucy Score too. I'll read book #2 soon!
I had a great time reading this. Loved all the characters and there were so many funny parts. I’m moving on to the next one!
