The Price Of Scandal

Lucy Score

4.1 AVERAGE

I love Lucy Score so much. This is the second book of yours that I've read and it doesn't disappoint at all.

It was so refreshing to read a book about a strong- willed “lady billionaire!” I could not put this book down - finished it in less than 24 hours, as I do with all of Lucy’s books!

This book has everything - romance, friendship, and a scandal!!

When it was announced that a series of books about female billionaires were in the works, I was beyond excited, especially with the authors involved. Like with many of Lucy Score’s books, The Price of Scandal was another hit!

The vagillionaire (coined by one of the hilarious secondary characters) in this story, Emily Stanton was amazing! Even though she was born into money, she worked her tail off to build and become the CEO of Flawless, a billion dollar skin care company. She is intelligent, successful, driven, a closet science geek, and her life seemed so perfect. Unfortunately, not all is as it seems, she is a workaholic to the extreme, not having a real life and a lot of family problems. Life becomes so much more complicated with a scandal not of her making, so unfortunately, she is now in need of a fixer. This is where Derek Price comes in, he is the founder of the Alpha Group, who was hired by Emily’s Board to make the scandal go away and make her more approachable. After a few failed attempts to get Emily’s attention, Derek’s solution was one of the best first meet ever!! Derek was absolutely perfect, he was amazing with Emily. He knew exactly what needed to be done to help Emily with her reputation and her company, but he also does so much more for her. I adored how he loved everything about her, the corporate Emily and the secret nerdy Emily. He saw through all of her masks and was able to chip through her walls. I loved their chemistry and especially the banter between these two.

There was also a bit of mystery involved that almost derailed Emily and Derek’s happily ever after, but their connection was strong so it did not take too long for them to figure out what was going on and work together to take down those who was out to hurt them. I loved the way the villain got what they deserved.

The secondary characters are the absolute best! Her three best friends are nutty, hilarious and love Emily so much. I seriously can not wait for their stories! I also have to give a shout out to Emily’s driver/bodyguard, Jane. She was hilarious with her dry humor and one liners. I also can not forget to mention the non-human secondary characters, animals always make the story that much better. We have a free range butt-sniffing Saint Bernard, a foul-mouth parrot and a prosthetic wearing alligator, who made a deal with the residents of the community; a rotisserie chicken every night and he won’t eat their pets. I loved it!

The Price of Scandal was a fantastic start to what is looking like an amazing series. A definite 5-star read in my eyes.

4.5 ⭐

I always enjoy reading the epigraph; it's a must. However, for no special reason, I never make it through the entire author's note or acknowledgments. While reading Lucy Score again was an amazing journey, what stuck with me and dazzled me the most from the beginning was the vagillionaire concept. This was well confirmed by the statement that started it all: "I'm so tired of all the billionaires being men."

Thank you, ladies, for making us proud.

This book is hilarious! it's a different take on the Billionaire world. This time, the women are the top dogs and the men who love them. You meet Emily CEO of Flawless, a Skin care company, who is set up on a blindish date to help get her better newsworthy as an IPO is coming up. However, her date is ruin, and her name is dragged through the wringer, and so enters Derek Price, a fixer in the world of who's who. There's a heat between these two that you can feel from the pages. The humor in this book is beyond Lucy Score level. The side characters are one thing, the who place of Bluewater is a side character all in itself. You will laugh your socks off during this book. I can't wait for the other 3 books in the series but Pippa Grant, Claire Kingsley & Kathyn Nolan!

Emily is a strong woman with a vision. She's more comfortable in the lab, but her business is so big, she spends nearly all of her time keeping it at the top of the skin care game - even if skin care is low on her list of what's important in the world.

A little scandal - not at all Emily's fault - and suddenly, Derek Price is on the scene to restore her reputation. There's a LOT going on behind the scenes and under the surface, and he's the man who's going to figure it all out.

She has her own strength, her own power - together, they're unstoppable.

Love the Bluewater Billionaires and all the supporting characters. ESPECIALLY the romance novelists and the Drag Queen Brunches!

LUCY SCORE YOUVE DONE IT AGAIN!!! This book was amazing from beginning to end. I LOVE the friendships, the power, the love & just the whole damn book.

I wanted to love it but just didn’t.
The narrators were both good but I feel like duet would have better suited this book.
