The Price Of Scandal

Hilarious meet cute to forever

I loved this forbidden romance with a side of messy public pressure. This story had the perfect balance of humor, heartwarming love, real life issues, and spice. I loved the fun and flirty banter between Emily and Derrick and Jane as a side character added to the wonderfulness of the story. Emily owns Flawless, a skincare company about to go public. Despite being a billionaire, she is a geeky scientist with a tender heart. When a set up date to be seen ends with a drug arrest for the date, Emily needs help to fix her image in order to save the upcoming IPO. Enter Derrick, whose company fixes the public images of the rich and famous. He is unapologetically himself and is pushy about getting his clients to do what he thinks is best for them. This, of course, leads to lots of head butting between he and Emily since she needs to control everything. The more time they spend together the more intense their chemistry and attraction becomes. What follows the “hiring” of Derrick is a wonderful journey to their HEA, full of truth telling, trust giving, baggage unpacking, inner voice finding, and life course correction. This well written story included engaging dialogue, three dimensional characters who grow, big feels, and a captivating storyline. I am looking forward to reading the rest of the bluewater billionaires HEAs.

This was the first romance novel I’d ever read! I listened to the authors of the Bluewater Series on a podcast and loved how they talked about their four books featuring women who excelled in STEM and business and didn’t need to be saved by men. I figured if I was ever going to read a romance novel, this would be the one to take a chance on. It did not disappoint... nor did the other three in this collection!

This was pretty good. I will read the 2nd book in the series.

I read this during a 5-day power outage. No heat, no water, no lights. I desperately needed something light to engage me and take my mind off my worries. TPoS is funny and sexy and just what I needed.

Emily, the CEO of her own company, becomes embroiled in a scandal not of her own doing. The board hires Derek Price (The Price of Scandal, get it?) to fix her reputation in time for an IPO. What Derek learns is that there's more to Emily than the ice queen CEO she shows the world. He likes the genuine Emily, and the genuine Emily likes him. They become involved, even though Derek doesn't sleep with clients. But there's more going on with the scandal than meets the eye. Will they survive the fallout?

One of my favorite things about this book is the cameo by the four authors of the series. And then the cameo in the epilogue by Lucy Score in a mind-bending art-imitates-life situation. It's very funny.
