Not what I expected in the best way. Very comedic and I enjoyed the couple at the end

“She wasn’t soft or pliable. Emily Stanton was a challenge. A razor-edged, high-walled challenge. And there wasn’t anything in this life that I enjoyed more.”

4.5/5 stars.

I don't know if I wanna round this into a five star or keep it rounded at 4, so don't be surprised if it changes in the future. Because oh my God did I love this book.

Honestly, I went into this with no expectations, I just wanted something to read and decided on this one, without reading the synopsis or anything at all and I'm glad for it.

I adored this book. I adored the characters, the romance, the platonic relationships between Emily and her Posse : Cam, Luna and Daisy. As well and her friendship with Jane. I also enjoyed the plot quite a lot.

Emily is such a badass character. She's very driven, super smart, and very work-focused. When I first met her I didn't really have an idea on her, but the more I found out, the harder I fell for her. She is a very raw and real character. She hides between so many masks, always taking on herself just to please other that at some point you just wanna punch every single person who mistreats her. Because, honestly, it's just not possible to not love her.

I loved Derek too. He is introduced as soon as shit goes down for Emily. He is a very endearing character, so charismatic he doesn't leave you any other choice but to fall for him and root for him. He is relentless, never gives up on what he believes in, no matter the obstacles. And in this case, it's Emily he believes in.

Derek is, in my opinion, the perfect match for Emily. He doesn't let the thousands of walls she has stop him from wanting to know her, to see deep into her. And slowly, but surely, Emily starts seeing that. He helps her see that she doesn't have to meet everyone's expectations. And in a world full of people who are out to get her or use her, he's only ever there to find out and give her what SHE wants. Always by her side, always supporting her, always reminding her that she is the boss. Their relationship is one you just can't help but root for with everything you have, and that from the very first scene they share. Because their banter, their chemistry and the oh-so-yummy sexual tension between them is undeniable from the second they meet. And not in an overdone -the-writer-is-shoving-it-in-your-face-as-fact way.

Going back to something I mentionned before, one of my favorite thing in this book alongside the romance were the friendships. Be it between Emily, Cam, Daisy and Luna, Emily and Jane or Jane and Derek. The loyalty and love these people share for each other is clear and heart-warming. They're very different friendship, but at the same time, they are all a bit the same; because in times of crisis, every single person in this group would not hesitate to drop everything they have going to support the friend who needs them. And this just made me love the book all the more.

I think my only issue with this book is how predictible the "villain" was. But the more I think about it, the more I find myself not caring as much as I would have if I didn't care for the book as whole. Which just makes me wonder how long it'll take me to up my rating.

To be quite honest, I wasn't expecting this book and these characters to creep into my heart when I started it, but now, writing this review, I must admit defeat because I was powerless to it from start to finish, and I'm so glad I have more books in this universe to read. (I did catch that little Cam x Jude hint towards the end winkwink!) I'm so excited!

Fantastic book. I loved seeing the twist on the billionaire romance. This book had a ton of laughs, interesting characters, steam, a dashing swoon worthy man, and a fierce awe-inspiring female. The build up and growth between the characters was everything in this book.I liked watching this couple learn to spread their wings and trust together.

I hope to all that is good that Jane gets a book someday. I can't wait to read the next in this collection. I'm sure it will be amazing since all of these authors are amazing.

Did not like the amount of explanation and wordiness here but it was ok enough. Not gonna remember it much but it was a quick and light read

DID NOT FINISH: 38%

I don't want to rate it because I didn't finish it, but I didn't finish it not because I didn't like it, but purely because it wasn't what I was wanting at the time I tried to read it. Giving it a rating would be unfair as I think I only got 38% into the book.

The characters (how I knew them) were nice, and I liked the strong badass woman CEO FMC. However, a neighborhood that's full of billionaires (but only really good, selfless, non-corrupt billionaires) that's the shape of the female reproductive system from a birds eye just seemed kind of comedic and ridiculous. They're nice ideas, and I liked them in theory, but I kept being pulled from the story and finding the whole situation comedic instead of taking anything seriously-- which, it's a romcom: that's what it's for.

I've also recently gotten back into reading horror so a romcom just isn't super hitting right now lmaoo. I think that's the main problem.
