The conclusion to a series that took me by storm (pun intended).
I wish there had been some more information on some of the magical creatures in the story. There were little things that I wish had been addressed more

like why no one tried to deal with the ghuls that plagued Nikla

. The prose in this one also felt a little repetitive. Finally, a couple things near the end felt a little deus ex machina.
All that said, I enjoyed this one. It's not a Sabaa Tahir story if you don't stare into the void a few times (especially if a character you just really started to like meets their end), and that happened here. But you also had quite a few pockets of joy too (which is on point for the theme of the book). The strongest points for me were the character interactions. The small moments of calm when they could find community with each other.
Overall it's a really good series with awesome world building.

this was sadly my least favorite in the series, but it was still a good book with a beautiful yet depressing af ending.

all i wanted was for helene to be happy, but i guess i was asking for too much.
