Silly and cute, it's a 2.5 as I really hated the narrator's voice
I liked it fine for the first in a series. I'm not sure legally how Wesley was able to open the van to find the body. Her description of his looks and body were a little over the top, like a romance novel. Loved the premise of Ava and her cat Lucky, who acts like a dog.
This is a fun read with an adorable kitten sidekick, Lucky, who thinks he’s a dog. I enjoyed getting to know the characters and especially loved the long standing friendship between Ava and Ruby and all their associated hijinks. I also loved that Ava thought of herself as a good detective because of all the Hallmark mystery movies she watched. Overall this is a good cozy mystery with an engaging main character, good supporting characters and a well paced mystery with a plethora of suspects. I’m definitely interested to see where the series goes in future installments.

Not bad for a first book in a series, I liked the characters and the story was good.
Adorable and funny
This was a cute, giggle worthy and light read. I liked the characters and love her sidekick Lucky. Definitely going to continue the series.

This is kind of the first cozy mystery I've read minus one that I read in high school (and didn't even in know it was a cozy mystery). This was a cute and cozy book and I love the kitten!! I was interested to find out what was going to happen in the end. I am happy to discover a new genre that I like (I usually like historical, fantasy and paranormal books).
This was a good start to a potentially great new series. I loved the characters, the town, and the story. I did think the killer was a little bit more obvious than I personally would have liked, but this is a cozy mystery so some simplicity is expected. There were some simple editing issues I noticed, but nothing that would ruin the book. I also received an ARC copy, so these may be fixed for the final edition. Overall, this was an enjoyable read and there weren't any times where I got bored, lost, or wanted to set down the book.
I received a free copy of this book for an honest opinion.

Cozy mysteries are my weakness. It is not healthy of me to attach my emotions to a genre that has brought nothing but disappointments recently (these past 3 years). I am slowly rehabilitating and marshalling, though. The tries of giving the genre a chance are keeping on becoming fewer and far between.
As well as not being fun to read, cozies are a terrible subject for a review. One cannot get creative as there is no room to. The choice of the victim is usually better than the choice of the culprit. The saving grace of this cozy is that it takes a joke and turns it into a plot twist.
Please do not read this book even if you borrowed them. Albeit, you might like this book. Many have. And they rate it highly enough. Maybe they had a gun pointed to their head. I don't know.
This book is not a guilty pleasure for me. It is a cruel punishment. I have heard that the author wants to write contemporary mysteries a la Evanovich. I sincerely wish her better luck with that venture as she has already done everything possible for cozies and has hit her ceiling.
To recap, this book for me was not enjoyable. It feels like I'm cutting myself from flavorful food and wasting my time over frothy and airy junk food. Ever since I marginalised cozies I have been doing well. But it is proving difficult to turf them out forever.
The thing is, bad cozies ruin my day - you get the picture. There is a nice Fantasy book waiting on my Kindle to be read. There are promising and new books that are likelier to be enjoyed by moi. I know I need to read and erase these books, eroding them word by word, from my e-reader. Right? Right.

It is a cute and fast read for the tired mind. However a.very obvious culprit. Furthermore it does have a feel that a teenager wrote it from her warped perspective of life, romance, generational wealth built on small businesses in small towns, family owned legacies and what things cost.Too many characters that are seemingly similar. Also the author's perspective of what constitutes as flirting is a bit dodgy.
