Aru lives in the Museum of Indian Art and culture, she gets peer pressured into lighting a lamp that brings forth the end of the world. Time freezes around her and now she has to fix her mistake before it’s too late. Aru Shah is a greatly flawed but realistic and entertainingly fun and imaginative protagonist who I loved instantly. Mini took a little longer for me to like but I absolutely love her dynamic with Aru, they had a lot of heartwarming and heart breaking moments together. The middle of the story lagged a little but picked up at the end and I’m so excited for the next book.

Great character and friendship development. Definitely an interesting story though sometimes the plot got convoluted. Very cute and humorous!

Loved it!!! Aru definitely has that Percy Jackson level sass and sarcasm that I missed and it's very informative. I'm Hindu and trying to learn more about my culture and talking about the book's facts and info with my mom along the way made me realize that is a perfect beginner's guide to people who want to know more about the Mahabharata the great war between the five Pandava brothers and their hundred cousins, the Kauravas. All in all, great pace, great humor, and great characters too!!
It was amazing. I flew through the book. It made my love of the idea of reincarnation heighten and the writing is remarkable. The Characters I loved. Aru was hilarious and I love how her character progressed throughout the story.
3.5 stars. I'd definitely not the right age range for this story, but as far as a Rick Riordian Presents book, its was good. It was refreshing to hear stories of an Eastern religion. The characters and overall story fit right in to Riordians mythology series, and over writing style, so if you enjoyed the Percy Jackson stories, this one is worth a go!
