I really enjoyed Passenger and I was expecting a lot from this book but it left me a little disappointed. This book was very slow, it took me a really long time to get into. I found that the time traveling aspect was much more confusing in this book and it made it ver difficult to read in places as it was too confusing for me.

I really missed seeing Etta and Nicholas together. For the majority of the book, they weren't together and I missed that part of the story.

I was reasonably happy with how this ended but I was kind of expecting a bit more from this story. I think that this book could have done better if it had been a little bit shorter as it took a long time to move anywhere in this story.

SOLID. Lots of good chewy plot and horrible families and annoying siblings. Satisfied with the ending, too.

I really, really, really wanted to love this book. Unfortunately, I will die of boredom before I am able to.
Passenger was really good but Wayfarer was kind of a let down. Nothing was really happening until the very end - and I didn’t even read the ending. Alexandra has such beautiful writing but she spends to much time describing every little thing that it just becomes boring. I don’t need to know what every place they visit looks like, or what colour dress she is wearing.
She just spends so much time describing instead of doing something.

The main characters infuriates me, I didn’t realise it until thinking about it. Etta just seems out of place, I would still be freaking out if I was her. She’s so used to it straight away that it’s kind of creepy. The way she is represented makes her seem like she’s stronger without any weaknesses. I would love her more if she acted like a real person, the fact that she still doesn’t question about her ability is a bit concerning.
She also has the Jace Wayland- Herondale - Lightwood - Morgenstern thing going on.
Etta Spencer- Linden - Hemlock - Ironwood.

Nicholas, Nicholas, Nicholas. I really liked you at first, I thought you were a really intriguing character. But then it was like “I’m a proud and strong male.”
Yet he still manages to get the most injured out of all of them?

They literally almost die so many times. OKAY, WE GET IT. JUST DIE ALREADY.
(Sorry, it might be a bit harsh).
But it’s not like we weren’t prepared for their deaths from the amount of times they almost got killed.

I hated the, I-was-searching-for-the-person-that-I-loved-and-I-just-missed-then.
You know how annoying that was?? If Nicholas saw her they would have stopped the whole, Nicholas-life-and-heart-belongs-to-Etta kind of thing.

Sophia is really growing on me, despite her annoying attitude, she doesn’t actually annoy me. Henry is my favourite character, he seems like an amazing father figure. I actually love Julian, he doesn’t fail to make me laugh. I love his sarcasm and his playful attitude.

I got really bored that I didn’t even read the ending.
I was up to page 430 when I kept staring at the large chunk that I had left to read. And than I glanced over at my pile of books that I had to read and I was like, I give up. I’ve been reading this book for 4 days and I was dreading even the thought of reading this book. I skipped through the last couple of chapters only reading the important things.

One thing that I did like was the diversity in this book and I loved that it was Sophia. I just love her more now. I love how we have a Chinese character and how it talks about racism in an eye opening way.

That’s it, that is my review.
Phew! *wipes off sweat*
Hopefully the next book I pick up is good. I kind of feel turned off from books because of this one.

I was very much looking forward to this read, as I devoured the first book in the duo. I was a bit disappointed to find this one dragging a bit more - there were some sequences where I couldn’t put it down, and others that I felt like I was really pulling myself through the water to get through.
One big thing I missed was the significance of the astrolabe - from the first book, I couldn’t remember what it’s purpose was, and once it got a bit more cleared up, it just felt so wishy-washy. I understand that the characters were being manipulated as to it’s real purpose, but I would’ve liked to have a more solid grasp on the stakes. The romance between Nicholas and Etta was one of the biggest highs for the first book, and I just wish we got more of that here, even in the ending. It would’ve been great to have the ending highlight Etta with her whole family, too, instead of another flashback.

I'm sorry if you like this one but...ugh.

This is basically a YA novel version of a recent TV show on NBC called Timeless - which had pretty much the exact same problems: a bunch of bad guys (and bad girls - more on that) with super-generic super-villain motivations that would be right at home with Shredder and Krang from the 1980s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon or COBRA Commander from the GI JOE cartoon of the same era, but most of the plot is just 70% boring. But I knew that coming in after reading Passenger, so....

The only reason why I picked up this book is because being over 500 pages long and being easier to read than most 500+ page books (even YA ones) this one will help me round out my 2018 Goodreads Reading Challenge.

Also like I commentated elsewhere what's with this recent trend of women authors writing women characters who are particularly and needlessly brutal to other women characters? And I don't mean like supervillain ones in a supervillain cartoon-y way (although unlike the other one where I complained about this, yeah that happens in here too), I mean the actual main characters being brutal to other women and being hailed heroes for it. I don't think that's what they mean by having more diversity in books, but whatever.

First thing I want to say is:

The ending was honestly amazing and I'm really really happy with it.

But this leads into the not so good parts about Wayfarer. I really, really, really wanted to love this book. Passenger was absolutely amazing and I loved it so much! The whole concept and the characters was just pure perfection for me....but Wayfarer was a real let down to the series ending, in my opinion. It was incredibly slow paced and about three-quarters of the way through I skipped about 50 pages just to get on to the good parts of the story. The plot was a little complex to understand and I was disappointed in the amount of page-time Etta and Nicholas actually got. I absolutely adored these two together and I really wish I saw more of them in this book.

I really wish I liked it as much as I liked Passenger, but this book just didn't do it for me :(

Much more enjoyable read than Passenger! I still had some grips with it but overall the characters and plotlines were far more interesting and compelling.

I'll do a full review later but I'm glad I wasn't completely disappointed with this duology!
