i really liked this one. i think i might have read it before, the thing with the cut ear seemed familiar, i guessed a lot too early who it was (which i never do usually). it's quite crazy, as a child i used to always know exactly which books i had read and which ones i hadn't and exactly what happened...
the characters in this one ar somewhat less interesting than in other ones, it's a big cast, too. the solution of the mystery is quite great, too. just the mitzy (?) thing was very uncomfortable. somewhat xenophobic, might even be anti-slavic racism

This was probably my favorite of the Miss Marple books so far. I figured out the solution almost immediately (or at least most of it), which might be because I read it once before, about 14 years ago, but either way it was enjoyable to see how she put it together from there. Also, why did no one consider that Philippa could be Pip? That was my first thought! As in many of these mysteries there's an unusually large number of other secrets and false identities that come out in the course of the investigation, but I suppose that is necessary for red herrings and such. The audiobook narrator was stellar! Glad to have revisited this one.

Excellent Miss Marple mystery. A trail of clues and lots of red herrings!
