I hate that I liked this

The actually writing is horrendous but it is just so funny to read I love books that turn into movies even when they’re actually bad.

I understand the Twilight glorifies a borderline abusive relationship, and that Bella Swan is not the best female role model, but, on a base level, I found it entertaining. (Admittedly it's been a while since I read it- 8th grade- but I watched a bit of the movie the other day so I feel this still holds to be true for me.)

I recognize the problems with Twilight, I accept them, and I'm able to enjoy it (much like I do with crappy television).

I think my main problem with all the criticism Twilight gets is that the people who dish it out are often extremely hypocritical. They denounce (and mock and laugh at) the book until they're blue in the face often citing that they do so because they find it sexist. Well do you know how many other books/movies are sexist? Tons. I mean just look at the startling low number of movies that pass the Bechdel test. (If you're planning on giving me shit about the Bechdel test just don't- the fact that a movie having two named women that talk about something other than a man is considered unreasonable is just ridiculous.) So why Twilight then? Part of it is because it's popular, but it's more about who it's popular with: teenage girls. When something or someone accumulates a mass teenage girl following (One Direction, Glee, etc.) it is almost always made fun of and discredited. People just love to shit on teenage girls, so why don't we analyze the sexism in that.

So if you want to criticize Twilight for being sexist then go for it, but you better be doing that with other books and movies too, because I'm not a fan of feminist critique being used only when it's helpful for your cause.

Um, so basically… it sucked. Edward is some psycho abusive unhealthy axe boyfriend/murderer. Oh, and a vampire.

Meyer decided to drag on for over 200 pages about what Edwardo might be, even though on the back of the book it says:

FIRST, EDWARD WAS A VAMPIRE.

Bella looks up on her, and I quote, "FAVORITE SEARCH ENGINE" *cough*WIKIPEDIA OR WIKI ANSWERS*cough* what would constitute a vampire and finds all of this out in one night.

So, if you were like me, saw the movie in fourth grade and decided to read the book and watch the movie again, you would know that it was worse than originally thought.

I could rant on and on but it's almost 11:00 and with the daylight savings whatever I need to sleep…

Aka read.

I didn't agree with the storyline, the ethics of the book, or the writing style.

I'm really sorry, Stephenie, but I'll stick with THE HOST instead.
