After the first book, which I thought was good, but not great, I wasn't really expecting a lot out of this book. I figured that it would just be more of the same. However, we have Rhage who literally has an inner monster trying to get out all of the time that he is trying to keep in check. We also have Mary, an extremely kind-hearted woman who has been through too many ordeals in her life and doesn't want to get close to anyone. I also liked that we started to see a little more of Zsadist's character. There are a lot of story lines that are set up for the next book, and I can't wait to read more. I loved the ending of the book (don't worry, no spoilers). I thought that it was perfect.

Just an fyi before I start this; I read this book over a month ago, so excuse me if I don't elaborate on any statements. I probably just picked it up from my notes, and quite frankly, my notes aren't that great. I don't even think I know what I was talking about back then.

Anyways, I have to say, looking back, I think I preferred the previous book a lot more than this one. For one, I felt like there was an imbalance between Rhage and Mary.
And overall, I felt like Wrath and Bella just had a better connection between them.

There was also the amount of lying Rhage did. Bruh, maybe think through that the next time. The communication is really coming on strong here. Rhage continuously keeps secrets from Mary, no matter how much he 'tries' to keep things open between them.

But nevertheless, the couple still have off that same fated energy that Wrath and Bella also gave off. They supported each other really well, even though I disagree with the methods Rhage used to get her.

It was a satisfying read, I have to give JR Ward that. It all came together well, and it was definitely a HEA ending. But still, the only reason that
Mary got to remember Rhage was the simple fact that she couldn't have kids. It seemed so irrelevant, and kinda misogynistic. You do realize that women have other joys in life, right?
Anyways, I am glad that everything still turned out better for them.

Overall, I enjoyed this book and am definitely going to read the next one. Would I recommend this book? If you were reading the rest of the series anyways, definitely. But otherwise there isn't anything particularly surprising or spectacular in this book that you might be interested in. Other than maybe dealing with cancer.

What an AMAZING book. This book details Rhage the woman he loves, Mary. So many twists and turns were introduced that allowed for growth in the series. I could not put it down.

Rhage aka Hollywood! I have to say from book one this was the Brother I was really looking forward to reading. He just intrigued me. The playboy who can have any woman yet falling for the an ordinary woman, the love of his life. He has also been cursed by there creator. When he has any sort of high emotion he turns into this eight foot tall dragon with green and purple iridescent scales that does not recognize friend from foe. Chomping on the Lessening Society is awesome but when he converts back the pain and disorientation is horrible.

Mary, a human, is introduced to the Brothers lifestyle through another a young vampire that has not gone through the change named John Matthew via the Suicide Prevention Hot line. Mary's neighbor is Bella a civilian vampire that meets John Matthew when he follows Mary home and recognizes what he is. Bella calls the Brothers to help.

While at the Brothers compound Mary and Rhage run into each other and he is instantly smitten. Now as Rhage comes to terms with bonding with a human female and how he is going to bring her into his life. Mary is battling leukemia and does not quite understand Rhage (Hal E Wood's) attraction.

Can't wait to see what Brother is next...

Okay so the dialogue is still cringy as fuck for me and the lingo these vampires use is weird as hell but I’m digging the series still.
So…. It’s Rhage’s story and he’s been cursed with a monster literally living inside of him… he pissed if the Scribe Virgin and she decided to curse him with this dragon-type monster for 100 years.

Mary is the main female character. A human. Who gets mixed up with these vampires but her voice is what Rhage fell in love with right away. He has to have her. At all costs.
Mary doesn’t want to connect with anyone knowing her outcome is grim and doesn’t want to pull anyone down along with it. She has cancer. Again. It’s back.

Is the series spicy? Ugh no. Dark? Nah.
Weirdly addicting? Kinda. When I’m in a funk, I buy the next book. Ebooks are a whopping $8.99 so I’m in no rush but they’re definitely fun.

This book leaves off with nothing quite settled. Where the fuck is Bella?! What you doing baby Zhadist?!
