This was a nice book. I didn't like it as much as I liked The Giver, though. Mainly because i didn't understand the ending as much. It didn't feel like all the problems were resolved. However it wasn't a very predictable ending and it surprised me, which I found entertaining. I would recommend this book.
There's something so lovely about reading a childhood favorite and feeling the bits of memory surfacing and reconnecting to the whole story. I think this is a perfect counter point to The Giver, and I prefer Kira as a protagonist.
Enorgullécete de tu dolor — le decía siempre —. Eres más fuerte que aquellos que no sienten ninguno.
I truly like the way Lois Lowry creates her dystopian worlds, I can’t put it down in words, but there is something about it that makes it feel it real and like an oppressive reality, even if deep down it is quite simple and pure fiction. It’s inevitable to compare this book with the previous one, and even though I think that The Giver is better and more shocking, as a standalone novel I wouldn’t dismiss this one because, comparisons aside, it’s a great book too. Again, as it happened to me with The Giver, the magic in this book resides in the fact that it makes you reflect about big matters through a simple story. I’ve found myself projecting some of the ideas in the book to today’s world, and thinking about the treatment we give to disabled people and talent, for example. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series to see where the story takes to.

I didn't know there was more beyond The Giver.

This one was ok. I still love the characters and I was glad she wrote it but it did not draw me in like the other two. Grade 5+
This book was just okay. It didn't give enough details about the setting and time period for me.
