Curiosamente me ha gustado bastante menos que sus últimos libros como Pureza o Encrucijadas. Puede que ya haya quemado mis ganas de Franzen pero este libro me ha parecido más prepotente, snob y menos pulido que los últimos ( críticas que también curiosamente reciben sus últimos libros de parte de aquellos a quienes no han gustado). En resumen nota mental: no juzgar a un/a autor/a por un único libro. Seguramente si hubiera empezado a leer a Franzen por Las Correcciones y no por Libertad, nunca me hubiera gustado tanto ni me hubiera animado a leerme toda su bibliografía.

This is the worst book I've ever read. I couldn't finish it and I never do that! There just didn't seem to be any point to any of it. I put it on the shelf and it will go to charity.

Re-read this; feels like a totally different book as read in middle age than it did in my 20s. Still think Franzen perfected this kind of thing in FREEDOM and refined it further in CROSSROADS. This is a book where you pretty much hate every single character.

Absolutely amazing, one of my favorite books of all time.

I loved the gentleness of the perspective of the parents, and I loved the uneven but true description of the children.

The best books make me think differently about myself.
